Goa has been suffering from a fish famine for the past so many days. One of the reasons is that fish from the state is being exported, but interstate fish vehicles are not coming into the state after clashes between wholesale fish traders and the sopo contractor. Now the impasse has been resolved, at least temporarily.

SGPDA chairman Wilfred D'Sa told media that the issue between both parties had been resolved and the Sopo Contractor was ready to give identity cards to fee collection workers. .

The decision was taken at a SGPDA hold joint meeting held between sopo contractor and Wholesale Fish Traders Association members after their recent clashes. Wholesale fish traders are alleging that the contractor is collecting unreasonable amounts from them so the traders stopped interstate fish vehicles for so many days now.
