Fishing season to start as per schedule following SOPs: Fisheries Minister

Fisheries Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues said lifting of fishing ban is the prerogative of the central government. He said fishing in Goa will start as per the schedule, that is , 1st of August after ensuring the procedures are being followed. Meanwhile Xapora fishermen have demanded that their subsidy be paid immediately.



 Cutbona fishermen have given a memorandum to Fisheries Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues expressing apprehension  that starting of the fishing season from 1st of August  could be detrimental to the people of Cutbon ward of Velim village in view of the pandemic.

They have requested the minister that starting of the season  be postponed to  1st of September. A copy of the memorandum was also  given to the South Goa Collector, Police and  Health Officer.

 Meanwhile, Xapora fishermen have demanded that their subsidy be paid immediately. They have also demanded that their pending be resolved.
