Contract linemen workers to give fitness test

Now all the electrical linemen helpers on contract basis have to give fitness test, including women. If failed, they will be sent home. Power Minister Nilesh Cabral told the house that all current linemen on contract have to re-apply and they will get preference in getting job. The fitness test will also be made compulsory for new recruits.

The opposition requested to relax the test for linemen helpers who are working for more than five years. It will be injustice if they fail and government sacks them. But Cabral was firm on the test. Power Minister also said that no favors of MLAs will be entertained in transfers of linemen helpers. Cabral also asserted that this won't be limited to power department but also entire system.
