Bimbvel beach stinking of a dead whale, not cleared for 12 days

Twelve days have passed since a dead whale was washed ashore at the Bimbvel beach in Vasco. Despite repeated requests by locals decomposed carcass is still lying at the site. Locals say the carcass is attracting birds and it poses a grave risk of a bird hit to the planes flying at the nearby Dabolim airport.

Locals told Goa 365 that a team of forest department and laborers had visited the site to dispose off the carcass. But they could not lift the huge whale.

Locals also wrote to the health department, navy and Airports Authority of India.

But there is no response. Now, the forest department has also stopped responding to their telephone calls, while people have to live with the unbearable smell.
