Fish in formalin case that came up for hearing in the Margao Civil and Criminal Court on Thursday is postponed to 31st July as Special Public Prosecutor Guruprasad Kirtani is sick. The court was to hear final arguments in the case. The judge has asked the state to appoint a new public prosecutor.

Detection of formalin in fish had created furore among the Goan public. Formalin was detected in fish by FDA Inspector Iva Fernandes. But she did not get backing from her higher-ups. Fish allegedly comes to Goa from distant place such such as Odisha, Tamil Nadu, etc and there are allegations that to keep the fish fresh formalin is added to it.
