The workers union of Western Indian Shipyard Limited has threatened not to leave the WISL premises until their pending dues are settled.

They have also threatened to commit suicide if MPT forces them to vacate the yard.

Union leader Ajit Singh Rane addressed media after WISL union leaders met MPT chairman I Jeyakumar at MPT administration office.

The meeting was called to discuss the future course of action by the workers union over the pending settlement issue. He said that recently the union received a notice to vacate the premises.

However, since the property, including the floating dry dock and other infrastructure, belongs to the workforce the union decided not to vacate the premises Rane also said that the union will also challenge the order at the appropriate forum.

Union leader Alexander Pacheco said that till the workers are inside the yard they will be peaceful. He, however, said if any attempt is made to evict the workforce then they are prepared to show their strength.
