IT Minister Rohan Khaunte assured Goans that the IT park project is in the interest of Goans and promised that there would be no environmental damage.

He said the Chimbel lake, at the centre of controversy is 400 metres away from the IT park site. The two IT parks that will come up will occupy upto 15 acres of land, three acres at Porvorim and around 12 acres at Chimbel.


Rohan held a IT park presentation for media persons at Panaji on Friday. Kaunte said that only 7 buildings would be constructed for this purpose.


He said that the first phase would ensure the creation of seven to 9,000 jobs. He also gave an assurance that Goans would be trained for the jobs that were needed at the IT parks.
