Govt should have explained to consumers why it is increasing fuel prices: petrol pump owners

All Goa Petrol Pump Dealers' president Paresh Joshi says the consumers would have shown some understanding if the government had explained why it is raising fuel prices. He says petrol pumps are not looked upon as Covid warriors and no facilities given to them. Paresh said price rise also raises the working capital of the petrol pump owners.

Joshi said that since people had felt the pinch of the price rise, it was their right to fight against it. He said VAT on fuel is the simplest way for the government to generate revenue in these circumstances.
