Govt school teachers protest over lack of job placements in schools

There are about 250 unemployed government school teachers and the number is rising, with the academic year starting in June.

On Tuesday teachers met to discuss their issues and said that they would protest if their demands are not met.

One of the issues discussed was that the government was giving out licenses to private schools.

Teachers said that new teachers are being trained. But existing teachers do not have jobs.

Further teachers who crossed the age of 40 have even greater problem in finding jobs.

Another issue that came up was that several government schools have shut down over the years either due to lack of funds or some other reasons.
