Govt’s ‘marriage only’ tweak to LadliLaxmi Scheme draws strong criticism from TMC

TMC slammed the BJP for restricting the benefits of the LadliLaxmi Scheme for girls only for the purpose of marriage. They have also slammed the ruling dispensation for failing to disburse funds to beneficiaries for the last 4 years.

It may be recalled that the LadliLaxmi scheme introduced in 2012 for girls above 18 years of age was to be used for education, business and marriage. However, recent amendmentshave restricted benefits of the scheme only for the purpose of marriage.

This has drawn strong criticism from the Trinamool Congress who drew comparison between theLadliLaxmischeme and West Bengal government’sLaxmiBhandar Scheme.
