Banaulikars whisk away NGO members opposing road widening

The NGO had objected land filling of river to widen the road. But locals from Benaulim whisked away the NGO members on Tuesday.

The road from Kharebandh to Benaulim was only 3 mtrs narrow due to which frequent road mishaps were happening.

The PWD decided to widen this road and all approvals and permissions were taken to fill the land and widen it by three meters more.

However, the NGO members came on the site and tried to stop the work complaining that the landfilling in river would invite floods.

In retaliation, few Banaulikars rushed to the site and confronted the NGO members.

After frequent arguments, NGO members left the site and work continued as usual.
