Every Goan is scared to buy fish in the market because government checked it only for one day. That too last Thursday.

But Fisheries Minister Vinod Palayekar has finally announced that they would check the fish vehicles at all the entry points. But from the next week.

And if they find formalin or any other chemical, government will destroy the fish after confiscating.

The content of deadly formalin in the frozen fish brought from outside has spread panic all over Goa.

But Goa government’s Food and Drugs Administration checked it only on one day. Last Thursday. No check thereafter.

Initially they said formalin is found. Then went on claiming that formalin is within permissible limit.

And now they say permissible limit was a wrong word when scientists challenged this claim.

Now they have woken up. See what Fisheries Minister Vinod Palayekar says.

Ibrahim Shaikh of Madgao is Goa’s main agent who imports fish from all over India.

He admits that fish supply has reduced these days.

He is also now desperate that government should check formalin in the fish every day. Not only fish, even vegetables and fruits.
