‘Manohar Parrikar’ bypass opened in Canacona, CM assures to build footbridge

After a long wait for 50 years, the bypass with Galgibag, Talpon and Mashem bridges opened for traffic on Friday.



 It would help in reducing a distance of 15 kilometres through ghat area. But this has created new problem for the locals of Mashem and Galgibag across the river. CM Pramod Sawant has assured local MLA Isidore Fernandes to construct a footbridge.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari could not make it for the inauguration. It was opened at the hands of union minister of state Babul Supriyo, who had come for IFFI. Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced that the whole bypass from Char Rasto to Mashem would be named after former CM Manohar Parrikar.

Also present at the function were PWD minister Dipak Pauskar, power minister Nilesh Cabral and deputy speaker Isidore Fernandes. CM assured to build a footbridge on Galgibag river when Isidore placed the difficulties faced by the locals due to the new bypass. 

 Isidore also conveyed grievances of Palolem and Agonda shack owners. CM assured to resolved all issues of Canacona in next two years.
