Sudin says IIT can be set up at Farmagudi in Ponda

Madkai MLA Sudin Dhavalikar has suggested that Indian Institute of Technology can be set up in Ponda if no one wants the institute in their areas . He has identified land in Farmagudi plus at two other places.

There was an initial proposal to set up the institute in Canacona taluka. An area of 5,000 square metres was identified at Shristhal and Poinguinim villages. But after the locals of the area opposed the proposal, an alternate site was identified at Guleli in Sattari. Even locals of his area are opposing the proposal citing  that the site is a fertile agricultural land.
