Govt extends power bill settlement scheme, says no choice but Tammnar

The Electricity department has decides to extend the one time settlement scheme for defaulting consumers for another another month – till the end of January. 300.97 crore rupees is still left to be recovered after 113 crore have been recovered till date, the Power Minister said. He also reiterated that in case the Tamnar project was not allowed to go ahead the state would be face with power cuts.



The Power Minister Nilesh Cabral said that after discussions with the chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant, the decision was taken so as to recover the due amounts. He however warned that after that steps would be taken to recover the amounts from defaulters including publishing their names on the websites and disconnections.The Power Minister said that the underfire Tamnar project had to be completed. And if not the state would be faced with major power cuts in the near future.
