Ponda Shivaji Fort beautification to cost Rs37 crore: Sudin

The Chhatrapati Maharaj Fort at Farmagudi, Ponda is all set to be beautified and refurbished.



According to PWD minister, Sudin Dhavlikar the total cost will be around 37 crore rupees.


And around 4,160 square metres will be developed.


The project will be completed within two years.


Sudin said that the the project will be placed before the people for suggestions and changes.


He said the fort will be developed in two stages. The first part will cost 20 crore rupees.


Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had seized Ponda in 1675 from the Bijapur Sultanate and it remained a part of the Maratta Empire until 1764.


Shivaji died on 3rd April 1680 at Raigad Fort.
