WILL GET APP-BASED TAXIS IN THE STATE

The issues of taxi operators and digital meters has been hotly debated in the recent past. Speaking on the issue, transport minister MauvinGudinho reiterated his stand on the invitation of app-based taxi operators in state after taxi operators in the state have failed to comply with the law and the government.

Taxi operators in the state have come under scrutiny after widespread reports of taxis not using digital meter provided to them while also showing total disregard to the court of law and the government.

In view of this, the government decided to invite app based operators to the state. Transport minister MauvinGudinho, said that the bossy nature and strong hand tactics of taxi operators in the state would not be tolerated any more and that a change has to be brought about in the industry.

Mauvin also said that the order issued by the IGP directing traffic police to only stop vehicles for visible violations, was a welcome one. Further adding that such a move was necessary in order to curb harassment of tourists in the state.
