The Mormugao Municipality Council meeting on Monday witnessed acrimonious schemes over gambling and trade licenses issued to slaughter houses.

Councilor Kritesh Gaonkar demanded the resignation of the chairperson on moral grounds for failing to curb illegalities.

He also accused the chairperson of not taking anyone in confidence.

He alleged that there are lots of illegal clubs are operating in the city and families are being destroyed due to such activities.

Chairperson Bhavna Nanoskar said that this was her first meeting as Chairperson but assured that she would take legal advice and sort out the issue.
