Goa to follow Gujarat, reduce hefty ‘Talao’

Gujarat government has drastically reduced the new amount of fines for traffic violations passed by the Parliament. And now Goa government has also decided to follow suit of Gujarat. 
Transport minister Mauvin Godinho however has said he will not compromise on traffic discipline. And this would be strictly ensured.



The transport minister was speaking after the news of the Gujarat government reducing the fines as per the newly amended Motor Vehicle Act. He however says the implementation will only be by January next year.

OFFENCE CENTRAL GUJARAT

No helmet & Seatbelt Rs 1000 Rs 500 

Obstructing Fire Brigade/Ambulance Rs 10,000 Rs 1000

Triple-riding a two-wheeler Rs 1000 Rs 100 

Wrong-side driving Settle in Court On-the-spot fine

No PUC Certificate Rs 10,000 Rs 3000



NOT CHANGED IN GUJARAT

OFFENCE FINE

Drunken Driving Rs 10,000

Under-18 Driving Rs 25,000

Jumping traffic light Rs 5000


However, he was also quite upfront in saying that there was no way he would implement the new fines as long as the road improvement was not done. 




Former Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar however is of the opinion the state government has to implement the amendments to the motor vehicle act. And he is not agreeable with the Gujarat fine reduction. He also speaks on children riding and driving. Watch him.
