The garbage time bomb keeps on ticking even as government is trying to keep pace. Now the Mormugao municipality is planning on putting pressure on people to segregate garbage.

MMC officials say that  they will fine people who give unsegregated garbage and in a bid to ensure that hotels segregate garbage measures including disconnection of electricity connections could be taken. Here are the details.

MMC Chairperson Kritesh Gaonkar conducted a site inspection of Sada Garbage treatment plant on Saturday along with GSUDA officials.

Gaönkar said that the MMC was in the process of identifying dedicated areas of around 200 Mtrs in every ward to compost wet waste.

Mormugao Municipal Council will soon construct around 142 toilets in different wards of the MMC jurisdiction.

MMC chairperson Kritesh Gaonkar on Friday said that the proposal was earlier put to all councilors and accordingly they had identified various sites and reverted back to MMC.
