Cabinet waives off 50% beach shack license fees, approves free digital meters for taxis

The cabinet resolved to waive off 50% license fees for beach shack operators for the current tourist season beginning from October, the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said. Cabinet also approved free digital meters to taxi operators.



Chief Minister said he had met taxi operators recently and had promised them to sort out their issues before Chovoth.

Accordingly, Chief Minister convened a meeting with transport minister in this regard. Chief Minister also announced A rebate on already fixed meters, meters for Goa Miles and compulsory badge and 15 years residence for taxi drivers.

Chief Minister hopes that this would get rid of unrest among the taxi drivers and the long pending issues of taxi drivers would be resolved.

The chief minister said that the government has transferred 50% compensation to flood-affected people. Sawant said that the Covid death compensation will be released to beneficiaries by Monday.

He said that the Government had simplified compensation to beneficiaries of Covid victim families and there was no need to wait for death report.

The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the state government has received 150 suggestions on the Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill.

He said that suggestions are still welcome and that government will take a call on the Bhumiputra bill only after going through public suggestions.
