Budget aims at job creation & stabilising economy: CM’s budget speech

Chief minister Pramod Sawant made a budget speech on Thursday based on a budget tabled by his predecessor Manohar Parrikar in January. Parrikar had presented two budgets without making speech due to his illness.



While presenting the same figures, CM projected growth rate of 10 per cent.

He said said the main thrust of the budget would be to create employment, sort out mining issue and stabilise the economy.

The total budgetary expenditure is a little more than 19,500 crore, which is 14.16 per cent more than last year’s expenditure of 17,000 plus last year.

He also said that the government would ask for an extra 5 years of compensation on the GST issue.

The last date for compensation to come from the Centre on GST charged is 2021.

The CM said that he would seek an extension of 5 years on compensation given by the centre to the state on GST. The deadline expires on 2021.

Later, at media briefing, the chief minister spoke on tourism related issue including those tourists who have been seen parking, cooking and sleeping on the roads.

The chief minsiter said that 10 crore have been earmarked to construct former chief minister Manohar Parrikar Samadhi
