We have already got bookings from international tourists. But for restaurants to actually make money bars have to be allowed to be opened, said Calangute MLA and Ports Minister Michael Lobo after a meeting with the chief minister on Tuesday.

He also said that in case review petition on mining fails the state has to look at auctioning mines to restart mining.

Tourism will take another 12-14 months to actually start. But on a small scale it should start by October, Michael said.

He said that he had spoken to the chief minister on allowing restaurants to open their bars and said that the order was expected in a couple of days.

Michael was also categorical that mining has to restart.

And if the state was not able to get any relief via the courts then the mines should be auctioned as per earlier orders.
