90% wear helmets due to Traffic Sentinel: Sudin

Most of the MLAs of all the parties had attacked the unique and nationally acclaimed Traffic Sentinal scheme of Goa government. But Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar continues to justify it. He has promised to review it. But not to stop.



 He has also announced 50% concession for the senior citizens in inter-state KTC buses. Here's more.


According to Dhavalikar, 90% two wheeler riders have started wearing helmets due to traffic sentinel.


It may be recalled that there was an uproar in the Assembly session over the Traffic Sentinel scheme and Dhavlikar had to assure to review the scheme.


He has now decided to set up a committee under transport secretary to review the scheme.


State Transport Authority on Wednesday approved the demand of senior citizens to get 50% concession for inter-state travel in Kadamba buses. 


Transport department has also signed MoU with Applus automotive a German company to set up vehicle testing lab in Ponda.


Vehicle which have crossed more that 15 years will be tested here before issuing fitness certificate. Transport Director Nikhil Dessai shared details.
