Cong alleges scam in horticulture scheme, demands action against guilty

Alleging that there is wholesale laxity and corruption in the schemes running and it is being controlled by one person in connivance with officials, the Congress has demanded an inquiry into its running and action against guilty officers. Here is the story.

The scheme was launched by the department in 2007 had a humble beginning and was modified in 2008 and had almost 500 outlets. Now the number of outlets has crossed 1000.

But the scheme has been hit by allegations of bad quality vegetables at many outlets and also good vegetables going to commercial enterprises. Many outlets had even lost their licenses because of that.
