The WHO recently declared monkeypox a global disease as cases crossed the 16,000 mark globally. Poonam Khetarpal Singh, regional health director for Southeast Asia, says it is spreading even in countries where it has never been seen before which has become a huge cause of concern.

No cases have been reported in Goa so far. However, the government has prepared
and taken precautionary steps in case any patient is found with the infection
