School undertaking issue: Parents approach education department

25 Feb 2022 08:01 PM

The authorities have decided that students have to join classes and schools restart. However, many schools want parents to give an undertaking that they – the schools – are not in any way responsible if theirs wards are affecetd. To protest against this many of them have approached the education department.

After the education department gave directions, schools from 1st standard to the 12th standard started. The SOPS too were issued. However, many schools wanted an undertaking abrogating responsibility of children’s safety. This did not go down well with many parents, though many have signed these undertaking due to the pressure put by the schools.

Schools want students to be sent to school. But theyare not willing to take responsibility in case something happens to them. Thsi is a problem, parents have pointed out.

The virus is still prevalent in the state, albeit in smaller numbers. And to send unvaccinated students to school at this stage is something that has to be debated, some Vasco school parents had said earlier.

The opposition too questioned the way the whole issue was finalised and date to restart given. Listen to what they have to say.
