Liquor won’t cost much, villages won’t be made towns: CM

Tourists can't drink on beaches but can come to Goa and have drinks at a much cheaper rates as usual. Chief minister Pramod Sawant is making sure that liquor prices do not burn holes in the pockets of both locals and tourists as rates are set to rise very marginally. After a public uproar, he has also withdrawn notification to mark some villages as towns.



The was an uproar in the state over the government's plans to hike the tax rates on alcohol. The opposition and social media had gone haywire on the effects it would have on tourism, weddings and even locals drinking in bars. 

 

The chief minister said that he  had withdrawn the notification declaring some villages as towns. He said that now the process would continue as part of the census exercise, Watch.
