Scarlet Keeling Murder: HC convicts one, acquits the other

The decision was long overdue. But finally the Bombay High Court held Samson D'Souza guilty of culpable homicide, outraging modesty of British teen Scarlet Keeling.



However, it acquitted the other accused Placido Carvalho from all charges.


The arguments on quantum of sentence would be heard on July 19.


Eleven years ago British teenager, Scarlett Eden Keeling, half nude battered body was found on Anjuna beach.


The state had appealed after the two were acquitted by the Children's court in 2016 of all the charges, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, sexual abuse and drugging.


31 witnesses, including Scarlett’s mother Fiona Mackeown were examined during the trial.
