ATM THIEF GANG CAUGHT

A gang of thieves who have been swiping money from the bank accounts of women across the state was arrested today. The gang’s latest victim was a woman in Mapusa, who was robbed of over one lakh rupees. Following a complaint filed by the woman, Mapusa police traced the accused within 24 hours and placed them under arrest.

The group, consisting of four men hailing from New Delhi and Haryana, have been targeting women waiting at ATM kiosks for some time now. Individual members of the group would approach these women, pretending to offer help with transactions. Upon accepting their offer, gang members would quickly swap the victims ATM card with a fake, using the actual to withdraw lakhs of rupees via a POS machine they would carry along.
