6 arrested for poaching of monitor lizards, meat, vehicle, weapons seized

Collem and Ponda Range Forest arrested six person from Tatodi Dharbandora for poaching of monitor lizards on Sunday late night. The raid was conducted on six houses at Tatodi Dharbandora.



Ponda Forest Sub Divisional Officer Anand Jadav said the forest team arrested four while the others who fled from the village late night surrendered to the forest office. 1.5 kg of meat was recovered from the accused houses. The forest team also recovered weapons and a bike used in the offence. The offence has been registered against section 9 and other sections of Wild Life Protection Act for poaching a monitor lizard.
