Goa is being hit by a spate of murders and unexplained unnatural deaths in the last couple of months. And the explanations by the men in khaki have been not really been accepted by large sections of society.

Now Goans were shocked after a double murder was reported at Ponda. Two sisters were killed in their residence on Saturday.

The lack of fear of the law is now in serious doubts after repeated murders. Yesterday, a parking contractor at Anjuna killed by tourists over parking issues, and now the double murder at Ponda.

Two sisters 68-year-old Jeevan Kamath an unmarried retired nurse and her 76-year-old sister Mangala Kamath were residing on first floor at Kamath residency in Ponda. They were allegedly murdered with a sharp weapon.

Police said the incident was reported around 10 am on Saturday. The forensic team as well as the dog squad was pressed into service.

The murder incident went unnoticed even as the son and daughter-in-law of the deceased Mangala Kamath resides on the second floor of the same building.

Neighbors said that the two pet dogs were barking out aloud at the time of incident. But locals ignored it.  Ponda police is investigating the matter.
