LIQUOR WORTH RS 40 LAKHS SEIZED

The excise department seized two trucks smuggling liquor worth Rs40 lakhs at the Patradevi Check post on Wednesday. These trucks were caught in two separate incidents at the check post. One of the drivers has been arrested and further investigations are on.

Excise said the orders had come to maintain a strict check on vehicles going outside the state to crack down on smuggling of liquor ahead of the Gujarat elections.

The Excise first caught a truck at 1.30 in the morning and a second truck at9.30 am. One truck had concealed different liquor brands under plastic waste and the other had hidden them behind the chairs. One truck was going towards Madhya Pradesh while the other towards Pune.
