Goa Police appeals to remain alert while using ATMs

Are you a frequent ATM user? Beware, a ATM skimmer might make you bankrupt. But now if you find a skimmer fixed in ATM you will be rewarded by Goa Police.
On Wednesday the Goa Police explained how card data is being stolen through skimming machine and preventive measures to be taken while using ATM’s.
Director General of Police Muktesh Chander told media that ‘skimming’ of debit and credit cards is done using a skimmer which is a device with certain technologies is installed in the ATMs.
When swiping card, details are copied and pin no. is copied through small pin hole camera, informed Chander.
Goa police has registered 12 cases of ATM skimming. PI Jivba Dalvi gave a demonstration on how the skimmer works and what kind of safety measures should be taken while using ATM.
