The Goa Human Rights Commission has now given an order and recommended to the North Goa District Magistrate to dispose the body of Social Activist Fr Bismarck Dias.

His body is lying in the morgue at Goa Medical College from last two years.

Fr. Bismarck was found dead in his village St. Estevam in the first week of November and his body is lying in the morgue since then.

The North Goa District Magistrate had earlier directed Tiswadi BDO to arrange last rites of the deceased with the assistance of St. Estevam Panchayat and the Prish Priest in April after a complaint from activist Adv Aires Rodrigues, but Bismark’s family had refused to cooperate.

Goa Human Rights Commission on Monday gave a fresh order for carrying out the last rites.

Acting North Goa Collector, Addl Collector Vikas Gaunekar informed that they will explore all the proper procedures in this matter and take the legal actions.
