Task force to decide on school reopening: CM

The Task force committee of Education department will take decisions on school reopenings. But schools would be reopened step by step, the Chief Minister said on Wednesday. The Chief Minister also announced that the local dramas in villages during festivals have been allowed.



The schools in Goa are closed for the last 1 and half year since the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic. The classes are conducted virtually. The government has allowed colleges to reopen. However, the students are yet be jabbed by the covid-19 vaccine.

When the Chief Minister was questioned on school re-openings, he said that the task force committee will convene a meeting and the committee would send its suggestion to the health department on reopening of schools.

The Chief Minister also said the religious places are not closed but are following Covid SOPs compulsorily. He said the local dramas in villages are allowed. Chief Minister also spoke on the tourists roaming without masks.

 Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said precautions needed to be taken and tourists visiting Goa must be fully vaccinated when questioned about the spike in covid cases.

Ministry of Home Affairs has issued advisory to state to prevent any spike in covid cases ahead of festive season. Home Ministry said states should focus on prompt and effective containment measures as well as acceleration in the pace and coverage of covid-19 vaccination. States must ensure enforcement of covid protocols.
