Covishield, Covaxin reach 11 cities; Goa too gets first batch of covishield

The first consignment, includes three boxes weighing 80.5 kg, were flown to Delhi by Air India.
Apart from Delhi, the first batch of vaccines, each vial containing 20 doses has been sent to Ganavaram, Guwahati, Patna, Delhi, Kurukshetra, Bangalore, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Chennai and Lucknow, officials said.
According to the Health Ministry, 55 lakh doses of Covaxin and 1.1 crore doses of Covishield are being procured. Both these vaccines were approved by the country's drug regulator for restricted emergency use earlier this month.
Bharat Biotech is charging ₹ 295 per dose for 38.5 lakh doses. However the company will give 16.5 lakh doses to the Centre free of cost.
The Goa has received its first batch covid-19 vaccine on Wednesday.
The first lot of Covishield for Goa has landed at Dabolim airport early morning.
The two boxes received were expeditiously cleared by airport team and was handed over to Health Service officials, Goa airport authorities said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Goa has received 2350 vials with 10 doses each, totaling 23,500 shots of COVID19 vaccine.
The vaccines are being stored appropriately by the authorities, and would be distributed to all centres 24 hours prior to vaccination day.
