People upset in containment areas after spending so long under quarantine

Corona has spread all over the state. But in many areas that were initially badly hit, people are chaffing at the bit, fed up of staying inside.



Also the government machinery has failed in many aspects as there seems to be a disconnect between the top and the people on the ground. 


Ward Councillor Saifullah Khan on Friday threatened that people from Mangoor Hill containment zone would be forced to go on an indefinite hunger strike from Monday onwards if the government did not pay heed to demands placed by the people in the zone.


He said people are locked up for more than two months and government has not given any response to their demands.


The locals from Kharewaddo containment zone has alleged that state administration has not supplied ration and groceries even once to people in the zone.


Ward councillor Lavina D'Souza said the cases are under control and only two people are admitted in the Covid hospital.


She demanded that the area be de-sealed, especially since the fishing community is all set to begin the new fishing season on Saturday.


Madkai MLA Sudin Dhavlikar said 27 people were tested positive for covid-19 in Adpai. 27 houses are sealed with home quarantine stamps for 12 days.


Telaulim panch Harshal Talaulikar said 2 families were tested positive for the virus in Kamarbhat Telaulim.


Goa State Industry Association president Damodar Kochkar informed Verna Industrial Estate has set up a 100 bedded covid care center with doctors under guidance of the State administration.


Swab testing unit also been arranged and reports will be available in 24 hours.
