Mhadei echoes in IFFI, protestors arrested

Drama over Mhadei issue was witnessed in the film festival, during the inaugural of IFFI. Over 50 Congress workers were arrested for raising slogans in the stadium as well as in front IFFI venue in Panaji.



On the other hand, leaders of Progressive Democratic Front & Goa Forward were also picked up by the police at the inaugural venue.


Four Congress workers raised slogans over Mhadei as soon as union minister Prakash Javadekar rose to speak.


They were picked up immediately by the police.


In Panaji in front of IFFI venue at the old GMC building, Congress staged a demonstration in a unique manner.


As section 144 prohibits five or more people coming together, batches of four workers representing different talukas demonstrated.


But after slogan shouting for some time, they were also picked up by the police and shuttled from one police station to another, up to Bicholim.


Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat in a tweet condemned the arrest.

On the other hand, as talks with Prakash Javadekar failed, members of Progressive Front of Goa and Goa Forward went to the inaugural venue.


As they were walking on the road, they were picked up by the police.


Chief Minister Pramod Sawant spoke to media after the inaugural ceremony, claiming that nothing has happened.
