Goa Revolution Day celebrated

It was on this day in 1946, the spark was lit to start a struggle against the oppressive Portuguese rule.
This eventually resulted in the liberation of Goa on 19th of December, 1961. In Panaji, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Governor Satyapal Mallik laid wreaths at the Martyr's Memorial at Azad Maidan.
The movement for Goa's liberation started
from Margao. On 18th
June Revolution Day Ram Manohar Lohia had made a rebel speech against
Portuguese.
Deputy Chief Minister Babu Kavlekar, opposition leader Digambar Kamat, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai, Margao Chairperson Puja Naik and other dignitaries gave floral tributes to martyred.
Deputy Chief Minister spoke on green revolution in Goa.
Only few people were present on the occasion of 18 June Revolution Day at Kranti Maidan in Ponda.
Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, freedom fighters and government officers gave tributes to freedom fighters.
