Milind Urban Dev Minister, Nilesh Power Minister, portfolios reallocation next week

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has finally dropped his two ailing ministers Francis D’Souza and Pandurang Madkaikar.

And in their place, Nilesh Cabral and Milind Naik were sworn in on Monday evening.

Milind is the Urban Development Minister and Cabral is the Power Minister, the portfolios of their predecessors. The actual portfolio reallocation would, however, take place next week.

CM Parrikar sent directives from the AIIMS hospital in Delhi on Monday morning about the cabinet reshuffle. Accordingly, Kudchade MLA Nilesh Cabral and Mormugao MLA Milind Naik were sworn in at the Raj Bhavan by evening.

Other ministers in the cabinet including MGP and Goa Forward as well as ex-MLAs were present at the swearing-in ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan.

Cabral is getting the ministry for the first time. Milind was a minister earlier.

For the time being, Parrikar has allocated only one portfolio each to both his new ministers. Milind has been given Francis D’Souza’s Urban Development ministry. And Cabral gets Power, the portfolio held by Madkaikar.

BJP’s state president Vinay Tendulkar told the media that Francis D’Souza was told by central observer Ramlal that he would be dropped.

Both he and Madkaikar would be given additional responsibilities once they recover. D’ Souza is presently undergoing treatment in the USA while Pandurang Madkaikar is in Mumbai hospital after suffering a brain stroke.

The million dollar question however still remains a secret. Who will get additional portfolios as Parrikar has decided to give up most of his portfolios?

Goa BJP president Vinay Tendulkar told Goa 365 that the balance portfolios would be distributed next week. Goa Forward minister Vijai Sardesai said he would discuss the issue with the CM.
