NAG PANCHAMI CELEBRATED

Nag panchami has its origin as a festival of gratitude associated with the earth. This year, devotees celebrated Nag panchami with great enthusiasm as the shadow of Corona is not as strong as it was in the past couple of years. Along with snake puja some locals from Mandrem area performed traditional Hovaso puja.

Some villages in Goa have still preserved their ancestral tradition through different festivals celebrated throughout the year. Nag panchami is one of these famous festivals celebrated in some Goan villages. Women from Mandrem village in Pernem taluka celebrated Nag panchami by doing their traditional Hovaso in the Bhumika temple area. 

The locals who live out of the state also come and celebrate this festival along with the villagers. Watch the ladies specially come from Mumbai and Pune to celebrate Nag Panchami.

One of the  unique features of this festival where the festival is celebrated is the five hood snake worshipped in one of the house in Mandrem village.
