Padvo is the third day celebration of Diwali festival. It was celebrated in various parts of Goa.

The merchant class celebrates it by worshipping Devi Laxmi and begin their new year. And farmers worship their cattle, calling it Gorvam Padvo.

Farmers paint their bullocks, feed them and worship them. People put garlands of marigold around their necks. They thank cattle for their lifetime service.

In the Khadde village of Balli ‘Gorwa Padvo’ was celebrated with enthusiasm. Modern machineries might have replaced bullocks but in Balli, farmers still use bullocks for agriculture.

On Padvo, bulls of Khadde-Balli take rest for entire day. Farmers feed them sanna, fov, sweet potatoes on the occasion.

In various parts of Goa, people also had Abhyang Snan a kind of ritual bath on Padvo. Many families built cribs out of cow dung and karit (cucumis trigonus) in their court yard.
