Patto garbage catches fire

After Sonsodo, now garbage dump at Patto Plaza in Panaji caught fire on Monday. The cause of fire is still not known. But the security guard at the spot was missing.



The fire started at around 6.30 on Monday morning. Fire tenders were rushed after municipal authorities got a phone call. CCP Commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues said along with garbage, one JCB machine, garbage treatment machine as well as garbage crates were also turned into ashes.

 According to Sanjit, garbage at Patto Plaza was accumulating these days due to IFFI, Panaji Feast, Serendipity and now the ongoing Lokotsav. The Patto site otherwise treats garbage from five star hotels, other restaurants and guest houses.

 CCP Mayor Uday Madkaikar said the security guard at the site was found missing when the dump caught fire. He is equipped with all the emergency numbers. He has been now handed over to the police.
