Heavy rains wreaks havoc in state

Heavy rains that lashed the State on Monday wreaked havoc.



A number of cars and houses were damaged by lightning and winds. 

Trees were uprooted and electrical poles and transformers were damaged.

Electricity was not restored in some areas till late evening on Tuesday.

Three transformers in Cuncolim constituency, namely Adiband, Kakanmoddi and Mureda were damaged due to lightning.

Locals informed that electronic items in some houses were also damaged. 

The heavy rains also led to the tree falling incidents at  Duler in Mapusa.

The trees came crashing down on the houses and cars causing huge losses to the owners.

Indian Meteorological Department has forecast spells of rain or thundershowers in Goa for next few days.
