Now that mining is under a major cloud, tourism is the mainstay of the Goan economy.

However, the proposed restriction on flights for runway maintenance at certain times and days could prove to be a dampener on charter tours.

The president of the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa has reacted to news saying that this will affect tourism in Goa. A meeting was held on Wednesday with airport officials

Savio Messias said that he has already made a representation to the Indian Navy and this.

Dabolim airport is likely to have restricted flight operations for one week because of the annual pre-monsoon maintenance work carried out by Indian  Navy.

The work that began on 1st of May will go on till the 7th of May.

There will be no civilian flight operations from 6.30 am to 12.30 pm.
