Tourism policy comes under attack

Goa's Church has rejected the draft Goa Tourism Policy of Goa government.

Church-backed Centre for Responsible Tourism has prepared its own draft after following a consultative approach.

It also wants the draft be circulated to all the Panchayats and Municipalities for deliberations and decisions at the level of grassroots.

CRT says that Tourism Policy lacks the basic data on tourism in the state.

It alleges that the master plan does take care of serious issues like environmental degradation, violation of Coastal Zone Regulations, cultural decay, sex tourism, easy availability of narcotics, child labour, child and women trafficking and alienation of communities from their lands.
