Casinos have become a part of the landscape of the capital Panaji.

Casino defenders say that they bring in revenue into the state coffers and provide employment to locals. To its detractors, they along with drugs are the sordid underbelly to the Goa tourism trade.

The Congress on Tuesday reiterated that casinos are controlling the state. And are above the law.

To prove this point its spokesman Sidhanath Buyao recalled that in 2012 chief minister Manohar Parrikar had promised to have a gaming commission. But nothing happened.

He also alleged that casinos are advertising and that was against the law.

The Congress also referred to a video clip that has been doing the rounds on social media.

About an assault by casino security personnel on a man and a woman. He said that he felt that such things happened in casinos. Only this was the one time that it was shot on video.
