Where is the 6 kilogram gold of the Bandodkar Gold Trophy? Has the gold melted? These were some of the serious questions raised by GFA President Churchill Alemao on Friday. Churchill has demanded that the government, and especially the Sports Minister intervene and set up an inquiry into this issue. Here’s more

The Bandodkar Gold Trophy was the first gold trophy in football-loving Goa. Churchill claims that in 1969 the Bandodkar Gold trophy was valued at 60,000 rupees  , while in 1978 it was valued at  4 lakh rupees. Churchill says today that trophy is not worth even 50,000 rupees.

He questioned as to how the value dropped so much. Where is the gold, melted or stolen, asks Churchill.

The GFA president  also came down heavily on  previous GFA President Elvis Gomes for not taking this matter seriously, and checking the trophy.

And he claims that even after taking over as the President of GFA he hasn’t seen the trophy yet.
