U-17 Womens world cup likely to face delays due to infra work: Gaude

Goa is fully prepared to host U 17 women world cup, Sports Minister Govind Gaude said on Monday. However, the national games are going to face delays, the Sports Minister said. He said that it would take at least 6 months more to put the infrastructure in place for the national games.



Newly appointed Sports Minister Govind Gaude, who  convened meeting of officials of Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs and Sport authority of Goa for the first time after assuming office, said that the Sports department needed to be streamlined and upgraded.

A review of the functioning of various sports department was the intention of the meeting. Primary phases projects have been completed and date of inauguration of 2 projects have been finalized, Gaude said. 

The department is now in the process of finalizing all details on the state hosting the  U 17 women’s world cup. The state will be ready to host game well in advance, Gaude asserted. He also gave details of the preparations of the national games. 

 Khelo India games would be promoted at academic level, he said adding that a residential camp would be started to train youth. Fitness of trainers and coaches will be taken into consideration from now, Gaude added.
